Softball Drops Pair In Spring Trip Play

Ashland University's softball team returned to Florida trip action on Thursday (March 10), losing to Holy Family, 6-5 in eight innings, and to Trevecca Nazarene, 5-0.

Against Holy Family, the Eagles led 5-4 going to the bottom of the eighth inning in an international tiebreaker scenario, but yielded two runs for the loss. Ashland had 10 hits, led by junior Ally Farrah and freshman Katie Mitchell (2-for-4, RBI each), junior Kalene Freshour (2-for-4, double) and senior Jen Moore (1-for-4, RBI).

Senior Sarah Alley struck out four and allowed eight hits, six runs and no walks in 7 1/3 innings.

In the loss to Trevecca, AU managed just three hits. Freshman Hannah Stroe allowed five hits and five runs to take the defeat.

Ashland committed nine errors combined in the two losses.

The Eagles (6-7) will play two more in Florida on Friday (March 11), against Charleston at 3 p.m. and Upper Iowa at 7 p.m.
