Softball Falls To Charleston, Upper Iowa Down South

Ashland University's softball team took two losses for the second consecutive day, losing in Florida to both Charleston (7-2) and Upper Iowa (7-6 in nine innings) on Friday (March 11).

Against Charleston, junior center fielder Ally Farrah went 2-for-3, as Ashland recorded five hits. Freshman right fielder Katie Mitchell had an RBI. Freshman Hannah Stroe allowed seven hits, four runs (one earned) and a walk while striking out one in 3 2/3 innings.

In the extra-inning loss to Upper Iowa, Ashland led 4-3 after 6½ innings before the Peacocks rallied. Senior Jen Moore was 3-for-5 with a double and three RBIs, while Farrah, senior Bri Buckley and senior Sarah Alley each had two hits.

Senior Brittany Flanigan yielded nine hits, seven runs (three earned) and three walks while striking out six in 8 2/3 innings.

The Eagles (6-9) will conclude its annual Florida trip with two games on Saturday (March 12) against Caldwell (9 a.m.) and Edinboro (11 a.m.).
