Eagles Top Stars To Even Record At 2-2

Ashland University softball earned its second win of the day on Saturday (Feb. 25) in a 5-2 effort against Illinois-Springfield at the Lewis University Flyers 2017 Dome Invitational in Rosemont, Ill.

The Eagles (2-2) scored all of their runs in the first four innings and held the Stars (5-5) scoreless through five. 

Senior Jenny Raguz's single to center field in the top of the fourth inning knocked in two runs, giving Ashland a 5-0 lead. 

Senior Ally Farrah remained red hot in the victory, going 3-for-3 from the plate with a stolen base and two runs scored. She is now 12-for-15 (.800) over the first two days of the season. 

Junior pitcher Paige McMenemy earned her first Ashland victory, allowing four hits while striking out four batters over six innings of work. Sophomore Abbie Sgro struck out the side in the seventh inning for her first save of the season. 

UP NEXT: AU completes its trip to Lewis on Sunday (Feb. 26) with a game against Wisconsin-Parkside at noon.
