Another day, another split for Ashland University softball in Clermont, Fla.

Tuesday (March 7) marked the second day in a row the Eagles (4-7) won a game and lost a game.

Ashland only scored two runs on the day, and both of them came in a 2-1 win over Mercyhurst that stretched to eight innings. In the earlier game, the Eagles lost to No. 8-ranked St. Leo, 11-0, in a five-inning game.

The Lions (18-6) piled on 10 of their runs in the third inning.

AU failed to respond with any runs of its own, eventually losing the game via mercy rule. The Eagles' only hits were singles by sophomore Kylie Asmus and senior Alexis Van Horn.

Junior Paige McMenemy may have had her best game as an Eagle to date in the win over the Lakers (1-8). She pitched eight innings, didn't allow an earned run, allowed four hits and struck out 12 batters. McMenemy struck out all but two of Mercyhurst's 11 hitters in the game.

Senior Ally Farrah had two hits, one RBI and one run scored in the game. Senior Jenny Raguz's double was Ashland's only extra-base hit on the day.

UP NEXT: The Eagles continue their spring break trip on Thursday (March 9) with games against Cedarville and Trevecca Nazarene at 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., respectively.
