For the fourth consecutive day of play on its annual Florida spring break trip, Ashland University's softball team split its two games on Friday (March 10), losing 3-0 to Truman and topping Caldwell, 3-2.

In the game against Truman, the Eagles managed just five hits, two of those off the bat of senior outfielder Jenny Raguz. Junior pitcher Paige McMenemy took the loss, yielding five hits, three runs (two earned) and no walks while striking out five in 4 1/3 innings.

The matchup with Caldwell saw Ashland score all its runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Sophomore catcher/outfielder Halle Dorko sacrificed in a run, then an error brought in Dorko to tie the game at 2. The eventual winning run came in courtesy of another sac bunt, this one from freshman catcher Cassie Haight.

Sophomore pitcher Hannah Stroe earned the victory in the circle by scattering 10 hits, two runs and a walk and striking out one in four innings. McMenemy picked up the save with scoreless innings in the sixth and seventh.

UP NEXT: The last day of Florida action on Saturday (March 11) at 8 a.m. vs. Assumption and 10:30 a.m. against Sioux Falls.
