Winning two games is good, but when you do it without allowing a run, it's even better.

Ashland University softball shut out Notre Dame College in two straight games in its first home action of the season on Thursday (March 23).

AU junior Paige McMenemy went the distance in the first game, allowing just four hits. Sophomore Abbie Sgro did the same thing in the second outing.

The Eagles put up all 10 of their runs in three of the 14 innings, scoring four in the fifth of the first game, and three each in the third and sixth of the second game.

Ashland senior center fielder Ally Farrah went 5-for-6 with three runs scored, two RBIs and two stolen bases on the day.

Eagles freshman Dayna Denner, as the designated player in the first game and right fielder in the second, went 4-for-7 with three runs scored.

Over the course of both games, neither Farrah nor Denner left a runner on base at the plate.

McMenemy had an RBI single in both games.

AU freshman catcher Cassie Haight delivered the day's only triple in the second game. She eventually scored from third, and she also drove in a run later in the game.

UP NEXT: Ashland opens up its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule, welcoming Ferris State to Brookside Park at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday (March 24).
