Ashland University softball split with non-conference opponent Cedarville on Monday (March 27) in Cedarville, Ohio.

The Eagles (12-13) beat the Yellow Jackets (11-11), 7-4, in a nine-inning Game 1, and lost, 6-3, in Game 2.

AU took a 4-2 lead in the eighth, but Cedarville bounced back with two runs of its own. RBIs from senior Jenny Raguz, junior Paige McMenemy and sophomore Katie Manahan gave the Eagles a comfortable lead in the top of the ninth that they'd never let go of.

Sophomore Hannah Stroe earned a complete-game victory to start the doubleheader, allowing just two earned runs while walking only four batters.

Freshman Dayna Denner, senior Ally Farrah and sophomore Kylie Asmus each recorded two hits in the win. One of Denner's hits was the game's only triple, and Asmus struck a double while scoring a game-high two runs.

In Game 2, the Eagles fell behind, 2-0 in the top of the second inning, and they'd never take a lead in the game despite coming within one run in the bottom of the sixth.

Farrah was the only AU player with more than one hit, as she compiled three in the loss. Farrah, Manahan and senior Alexis Van Horn all doubled in the win, but that was no match for the three home runs off the bats of Yellow Jackets.

UP NEXT: The Eagles travel to Canton to take on another non-conference opponent in Malone on Wednesday (March 29) in a doubleheader beginning at 3:30 p.m.
