Senior center fielder Ally Farrah earned the first Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner's Award of her career, as the conference's 2017 spring awards were revealed by the conference on Thursday (June 15).

Farrah started all 53 games in 2017, hitting .402 with 37 runs scored, five doubles, 18 RBIs, a .439 on-base percentage and a school-record 31 stolen bases. She finished second in the GLIAC in steals, sixth in hits, seventh in batting average and tied for seventh in runs scored.

Farrah graduated in May with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.85 in Athletic Training.

The Commissioner's Award adds to the lengthy list of offseason awards for Farrah, who also has garnered first-team College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America, second-team All-Midwest Region from both the Division II Conference Commissioner Association (D2CCA) and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA), CoSIDA Academic All-District, GLIAC All-Academic Excellence and first-team All-GLIAC laurels.

During the 2016-17 athletic season, Ashland's athletic department finished with five GLIAC Commissioner's Awards.

The GLIAC Commissioner's Awards are presented after the fall, winter and spring athletic seasons to six female and six male student-athletes who excel both in the classroom and on the fields of play. All GPAs are based on a 4.0 scale.
