On Thursday (March 8), for the third time in four Florida spring trip days of action, Ashland University's softball team has gone 1-1, losing 8-6 to Saint Anselm and winning 1-0 vs. Northern State.

The Eagles (6-6) needed just a single run in the bottom of the fifth inning vs. Northern State to pick up the win, and that run was plated by junior center fielder Erika Farst with a single to score sophomore catcher Cassie Haight.

That run stood up thanks to senior pitcher Paige McMenemy (4-1), who authored a complete-game six-hit shutout. McMenemy struck out six and didn't walk a batter.

A high-scoring affair against Saint Anselm saw sophomore second baseman Camille Pollutro drive in two runs on a triple in the third inning. Freshman pitcher Laney Jones (0-2) started and yielded five hits, five runs (four earned) and two walks in 3 1/3 innings.

UP NEXT: The end of the Florida trip on Friday (March 9) against Quincy at 9 a.m. and West Chester at 11:30 a.m.
