Pond Hired As Eagle Softball Assistant Coach

Ashland University head softball coach Emlyn Knerem announced on Monday (July 30) afternoon the hire of Erin Pond as the Eagles' assistant coach.

Pond comes to Ashland after two years (2016-18) as assistant softball coach at NCAA Division III Muskingum. While with the Fighting Muskies, Pond assisted in all aspects of the program, and was the head coach of the junior varsity team.

A four-year NCAA Division I college softball player at Akron (2013-14) and Penn State (2015-16), Pond played in 175 career games, recording 116 hits, 64 runs scored, 18 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 52 RBIs and 19 stolen bases. She garnered Academic All-Big Ten honors in 2016, and earned a spot on the Dean's List at both Akron and Penn State on multiple occasions.

As a prep standout at Keystone High School, Pond was the Patriot Athletic Conference Player of the Year in both 2011 and 2012, and was a four-year All-Ohio, all-district and All-PAC performer.

Pond is a 2016 graduate of Penn State, and earned a master's degree from Muskingum in 2018.
