The continuation of a strong comeback season for Ashland University junior designated player Dayna Denner has resulted in a Denner earning the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Week 8 Player of the Week honor, as announced by the GLIAC on Monday (April 8) afternoon.

Denner slashed .588/.682/1.294 over six games for the #RV Eagles last week, going 10-for-17 with eight runs scored, three doubles, three home runs and 12 RBIs. Denner had four multi-hit games and four multi-RBI contests in the week, including a 3-for-4, four-RBI effort in Game 1 at Parkside on Saturday (April 6).

In her first season back after missing most of 2018 due to injury, Denner ranks third in the conference with a .425 batting average, is first in RBIs (35) and on-base percentage (.538), second in slugging percentage (.745), tied for second in home runs (eight), fourth in hits (45), tied for fifth in runs scored (28), and tied for seventh in doubles (10).

Denner is the second Ashland softball player to earn a GLIAC weekly award this season, following senior pitcher Hannah Stroe in Week 3. This is Denner's second weekly honor of her career, having been named GLIAC Player of the Week on April 10, 2017.

Ashland (23-13 overall, 9-7 GLIAC) will return to Brookside Park for two home games on Wednesday (April 10) at 3 p.m. vs. Saginaw Valley State (13-13, 6-8).
