On the eve of the 2019 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, seven Ashland University softball players were named to the 2019 All-GLIAC Softball Team, the GLIAC announced on Thursday (May 2) night.

Earning All-GLIAC first-team laurels for the second time is junior designated hitter Dayna Denner, who, through the regular season, leads the Eagles in batting average (.403), runs scored (37), home runs (10), RBIs (46), walks (28), being hit by a pitch (12), slugging percentage (.675) and on-base percentage (.526).

Denner also was a conference first-teamer in 2017, and is the program's first two-time GLIAC first-teamer since Jen Moore (2015-16).

Ashland's four GLIAC second-teamers are senior first baseman Kylie Asmus, sophomore left fielder Emma Lawson, sophomore pitcher Laney Jones and senior pitcher Hannah Stroe.

- Asmus landed second-team honors for a second year in a row after hitting .321 with 14 doubles, three triples, one home run, 33 RBIs and 24 runs scored.

- Lawson made left field her own in 2019, and is hitting .339 with six doubles and 15 RBIs.

- Jones was 15-10 with a 2.30 earned-run average in the regular season, striking out 128 and allowing a .247 batting average of 167 2/3 innings. She also is hitting .291 with four doubles in 79 at-bats.

- Stroe finished the regular year at 16-11, 2.84, and whiffed 119 in 172 1/3 frames. Stroe now has two GLIAC second-team awards to go with two honorable mention citations.

Senior third baseman Paige Summers and junior second baseman Camille Pollutro each landed All-GLIAC honorable mention. Summers is hitting .251 with 27 runs scored, 13 doubles, two triples, six home runs and 30 RBIs, while Pollutro is hitting .249 with 32 runs scored, six doubles, three triples, two home runs, 19 RBIs and a team-high 12 stolen bases.

The 2019 GLIAC Tournament will be Friday-Sunday (May 3-5) at Sports Force Parks in Sandusky, Ohio. The Eagles (33-21) will begin play on Friday at 12:30 p.m. vs. Wayne State (32-21).
