A highly-successful comeback season continues to result in postseason honors for Ashland University junior designated hitter Dayna Denner.

Denner was named first-team All-Midwest Region on Wednesday (May 8) by the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA), in a vote by the region's athletic communication/sports information directors. This follows her selection as first-team All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference last week.

Returning to the field this spring after missing all but five games due to injury in 2018, Denner hit .400 with 37 runs scored, 13 doubles, 10 home runs, 47 RBIs, a .669 slugging percentage, 29 walks, being hit by pitch 12 times and a .522 on-base percentage. Her 47 RBIs are fourth-most in program history, and the most by a player not named Sunny Litteral (66 in 1998, 55 in 1999, 54 in 1997).

Denner is the Eagle softball program's first player to earn first-team all-region honors in two different seasons since Taylor Menhart in 2014-15.

She will advance to the 2019 D2CCA All-American ballot.
