Nine Eagles Earn All-America Scholar-Athlete Honors

Nine Ashland University softball players have been named 2019 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes.

Eagle honorees were senior first baseman Kylie Asmus, sophomore shortstop Abigail Butler, senior outfielder Halle Dorko, sophomore outfielder Alli Hylton, sophomore outfielder Emma Lawson, senior outfielder Katie Mitchell, junior second baseman Camille Pollutro, senior pitcher Hannah Stroe and senior third baseman Paige Summers.

Softball players who achieve a 3.5 grade-point average or better on a 4.0 scale are recognized as All-America Scholar-Athletes. For the 2018-19 academic year, Asmus was at 4.00, Butler 3.91, Dorko 3.55, Hylton 3.57, Lawson 3.59, Mitchell 3.92, Pollutro 4.00, Stroe 3.68, and Summers 3.98.

The nine Eagles are among a record 8,161 Easton/NFCA All-America Scholar-Athletes over NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, two-year and high school programs in 2019.

In 2019, Ashland's softball team was 33-23 overall and 18-14 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and qualified for the GLIAC Tournament. Head coach Emlyn Knerem will be in her third season in 2020.
