Relays Strong on Day 1 at GLIAC Championships

ASHLAND, Ohio – After just one day at the GLIAC Championships in Jenison, Mich. the AU swimming team has already seen one record fall in the men's 200 medley relay.

The gang of senior Matt Cook (Olmsted Falls, Ohio), sophomore Cheyne Fisher (Durbin, South Africa/Westville), senior Brian Worhatch (Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman) and sophomore Tyler Bailey (Westlake, Ohio/University School) set the new GLIAC meet record with a swim of 1:29.69. They finished first in the event.

Senior Lee Drugan (Ashland, Ohio) finished fourth men's 3-meter dive with a score of 426.30. Freshman Colin McDonald (East Lansing, Mich.) was seventh in that event.

On the women's side, the 200 medley relay team turned in an impressive performance that finished second at the meet. The time of 1:43.93 broke the previous Jenison High School pool record, but Wayne State took home the gold.

That 200 medley relay squad consisted of freshman Sara Reidler (Gahanna, Ohio/Lincoln), junior Maura Anderson (Lakewood, Ohio), freshman Gabriela Verdugo Arzaluz (Chihuahua, Mexico/Institute Tecnologico y de Estudious Superiores de) and senior Allison Morgan (Strongsville, Ohio).

The Eagles are back in action tonight (Feb. 10) through Saturday (Feb. 12).
