Remmel Makes Cut for U.S. Olympic Trials

Ashland University swimmer Tyler Remmel (Hubertus, Wisc./Hartford Union) has qualified for next year's United States Olympic Trials. Remmel will compete in the 100 breaststroke.

Remmel made the cut last Saturday (July 30) at the Wisconsin state championships in Brown Deer, Wisc.  His time last week was 1:04.30.  The qualifying time was 1:04.69.

"He's had this as a goal for a couple of years now," said AU head coach Paul Graham.  "It's a big weight off his shoulders.  He was really excited and so were we."

Next year's Olympic Trials will be held June 25 to July 2 in Omaha, Neb.

Remmel will be a junior at AU in 2011-12.  He is a two-time All-America in the 100 breaststroke.
