Ashland University junior Julie Widmann (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) has been named the GLIAC women's swimmer of the week for Nov. 7.
Last Saturday (Nov. 5) at Messerly Natatorium, Widmann helped the Eagles defeat Indianapolis, 159-117. That was Ashland's first victory of the season.
Widmann won the 50 freestyle (24.17) and 100 freestyle (53.43). She was part of the 200 medley relay that won in 1:48.26. That time is the best in the country. The junior was also on the 400 freestyle relay that finished first in 4:18.92.
AU will return to the pool on Nov. 18 at Wayne State.
