Both Ashland University swimming and diving teams have been recognized as Scholar All-American teams by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) for the spring, 2012 semester.

The CSCAA presents these awards to swimming and diving teams that achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.  Both the AU men's and women's swimming teams reached that level in the recently completed spring semester.

The AU men finished the semester with a 3.06 team GPA. The Eagles were one of 20 teams in the nation to make the Scholar All-American Team list.

The AU women recorded a team GPA of 3.43.  The CSCAA recognized 47 NCAA Division II women's teams for their academic accomplishments.

Both Ashland teams are coached by Paul Graham. At the 2012 NCAA swimming and diving championships the AU women placed seventh and the men were 16th. This was the third consecutive year the Ashland women finished among the nation's top seven teams.  Also, for the third consecutive year the women's program produced a national champion. In 2012, junior Julie Widmann (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) won the gold medal in the 100 backstroke.
