Why did you choose Ashland University?

When I came on my recruiting trip, I really liked the campus and it instantly felt like a second home to me.  I liked the team dynamic and the training style here at Ashland University.  It was also nice to know that I could come in my freshman year and already contribute to the team’s success.

What is your favorite part of training?

I’m a racer at heart, so I enjoy going fast more than anything else. A close second for me is how much fun we have at practice here, and how supportive everyone is for his or her teammates. The best moment of practice is immediately after a tough set, where you get an enormous sense of pride for what you’ve accomplished, and you can see the same pride in everyone else’s faces when we’re giving congratulatory high-fives.

What was your favorite class you have taken so far and why?

I’ve enjoyed every course that I’ve taken with my adviser, Matt Tullis, especially the feature-based writing classes. Because AU is such a small school, I’ve had a lot of chances for one-on-one contact with him, which is especially important when I’m beginning work on my thesis, where a personal relationship is required throughout the entire process.

What is your favoritememory at Ashland so far?

Right on par with my ridiculous behavior, last year we (Corey Wengerd, Jake Miller and I) decided that we wanted to make our beards more noticeable. So we dyed them. We didn’t know that it would dye our skin as well, though; we were hysterical when we realized that the dye didn’t come off our faces. The pictures of the event tell the entire story, especially the looks on our faces.

Where do you see yourself after graduation?

The thought of picking what I want to do for the rest of my life frightens me; I’m completely happy with my majors, but I don’t want to have to settle into something. I like doing everything. Maybe after I graduate, I’ll just run away for a while and see if I figure something out. Maybe I’ll drive a truck for a year or two. Who knows!
