Two Ashland University relays placed third on Wednesday (Feb. 6) at the C.T. Branin Natatorium in Canton, Ohio, on the first day of the 2012-13 GLIAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
The women's 200 medley was third (1:44.62). That foursome consisted of seniors Julie Widmann (Littleton, Colo./Heritage) and Rachael Ausdenmoore (Southlake, Texas/Carroll) and freshmen Beth Long (Upper Arlington, Ohio) and Kaylyn Murphy (West Carrollton, Ohio).
The men's 200 medley relay was also third (1:29.86). The members of that quartet were freshman Sergio Sanchis Peris (Valencia, Spain), sophomore Steve Moss (Youngstown, Ohio/Boardman), senior Cheyne Fisher (Durban, South Africa/Westville) and junior Braxton Wright (Lexington, Ohio).
The men's 800 free relay placed fourth. The members of that group were junior Johnny Kleinhenz (Cincinnati, Ohio/Walnut Hills), seniors Mauricio Uranga (Chihuahua, Mexico/La Salle Chihuahua) and Tyler Remmel (Hubertus, Wis./Hertford Union) and sophomore Lukas Jachno (Jindrichuv Hradec, Czech Republic/Gymnazium Olympijskych Nadeji).
The GLIAC Championships continue through Saturday (Feb. 9). There are two sessions each day. Ashland University is the host of this championship event.
