Eagles Turn Back Urbana

The Ashland University swimming and diving team completed a successful weekend by sweeping Urbana on Saturday (Jan. 11) in Ashland.

The AU men won, 106-66 and the Eagle women were victorious by a 111-50 count. The Eagles also picked up a pair of wins on Friday against Lake Erie.

Against Urbana, Hannah Mattar won the 1000 free (11:23.14) and 100 backstroke (1:07.05). Gabriela Verdugo-Arzaluz finished first in the 50 free (24.50) and 100 free (53.07). She was also part of the 200 medley relay that won in 1:49.52.

Kaylyn Murphy led the field in the 100 butterfly (59.73) and 500 free (5:22.84).

The men got a pair of first place finishes from Philipp Sikatzki. He won the 50 free (21.46) and 500 free (4:50.61). He was also on the 200 medley relay that won in 1:33.06.

Sergio Sanchis Peris led the pack in the 100 backstroke (52.17) and 200 freestyle (1:47.38). He was part of the 200 medley relay.
