Sikatzki, Mattar Lead AU Charge On Second Day

Freshman Philipp Sikatzki and sophomore Hannah Mattar had busy and productive days on Thursday (Mar. 13) at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships in Geneva, Ohio.

Sikatzki was fourth in the 100 butterfly. His time was 47.87. The rookie then joined forces with Greg Walters, Alex Sheil and Sergio Sanchis Peris on the 400 medley relay. That quartet finished 12th in 3:18.47.

Mattar was sixth in the 400 IM. She completed the race in 4:20.94 and picked up her second individual All-America award of this meet. Mattar was part of the 400 medley relay that was 11th in 3:47.16. Her teammates in that race were Sara Reidler, Gabriela Verdugo-Arzaluz and Kaylyn Murphy.

The women's 200 free relay was 13th in 1:35.69. Murphy, Anna Evans, Verdugo-Arzaluz and Reidler were in that race.

The men's 200 free relay placed 16th in 1:24.78. The members of that relay were Peris, Hueston Holder, Sheil and Walters.

After two days of competition the AU men are 14th with 56 points and the AU women are 15th with 46 points.

Drury leads the women's field with 246 points. Wayne State sits in second place with 216 points.

The Drury men are in first place with 276.5 points. Again, Wayne State is second. The Warriors have 182 points.

The NCAA Championships are being held at the SPIRE Institute. The meet runs through Saturday night.
