Eagles Complete Final Day at Magnus Cup Invitatational

Sunday afternoon (Nov. 23), the Ashland University swimming and diving teams completed their third and final day at Cleveland State's Magnus Cup Invitational.

The Eagle men's team finished fourth overall (845 pts), while Cleveland State University won the men's cup with a total of 1,616 points. The AU women finished in seventh place with 389 points. Duquesne University won the women's cup with 1,415 points.

In the 1,650 freestyle, Ryan Deemer took fifth place on Sunday when he touched in 16:17.34.

Kaylyn Murphy finished seventh (52.92) and Grace Reichard finished ninth (53.51) in the 100-yard freestyle.

In the 200-yard breaststroke finals, Hannah Mattar earned second place in 2:16.36, while Beth Long took 10th in 2:30.54. On the men's side of the 200-yard breaststroke, Greg Walters finished sixth in 2:09.67.

Mattar collected a third-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly. She finished in 2:03.24. In the men's 200-yard butterfly, Christopher Georgiadis also placed third with a time of 1:52.91.

The Eagles will next swim on Friday, January 9th at home against the Lake Erie Storm. The meet will begin at 6 p.m. in Messerly Natatorium.
