Mattar, Reichard Add To Eagles’ GLIAC Gold

Ashland University junior Hannah Mattar earned her second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title in as many days on Thursday (Feb. 12), finishing first in the 400-yard individual medley.

Mattar touched the finish line first in 4:19.44 – a time which not only set a new conference meet standard, but also is a 2015 NCAA Division II "A" time.

Freshman Grace Reichard earned her first GLIAC title on Thursday, claiming the 200-yard freestyle in 1:51.67, good for a Division II "B" time.

Ashland's women's 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshmen Reichard, Zoe Scarpone and Lizzy Gehlmann and sophomore Megan Schultz placed third in 1:36.92, a Division II "B" time.

The Eagle men are fifth (146 team points) through 20 events, and the AU women are sixth (147) through 19 events.

Ashland will continue action in the GLIAC Championships on Friday (Feb. 13) and Saturday (Feb. 14).
