Deemer Earns Second GLIAC Gold

Ashland University freshman Ryan Deemer won his second Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title of the week, winning the men's 500 freestyle at the GLIAC Championships on Friday (Feb. 13).

Deemer touched the finish line first in the 500 free in 4:36.72, which is an NCAA nationals "B" cut. On Wednesday (Feb. 11), he won the men's 1,000 free title.

Junior Hannah Mattar, who also has won a pair of conference titles this week in the 200 women's 200 individual medley and 400 IM, took second place on Friday in the women's 200 butterfly (2:01.84), turning in a "B" cut time in the process.

Also earning a "B" cut time on Friday was freshman Grace Reichard, who was fifth in the women's 100 breaststroke.

Ashland's swimmers will complete GLIAC Championships action on Saturday (Feb. 14).
