Four Eagles Compete in "Last Chance" Meet

The sun is setting on the 2014-15 swim season, and Saturday (Feb. 21) afternoon marked the last chance for any would-be nationals swimmer to improve their times in hopes of making the upcoming NCAA Division II Championships.

Five teams from the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference converged on Ashland on Saturday in hopes of sending a couple more swimmers to the national meet. The teams competing today were Ashland, Findlay, Grand Valley State, Malone, Saginaw Valley State and Wayne State. The meet was not scored, but the times did count for each individual swimmer.

The Eagles had four swimmers trying to improve times in today's swim meet.

Freshman Cody Cook turned in a 2:13.19 in the 200-yard individual medley, and touched in 59.64 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke.

Freshman Logan Rex also competed in the 100-yard backstroke and timed in at 56.71 seconds. Rex had his season-best time of 21.62 seconds in the 50-yard freestyle.

The Eagles sent Christopher Georgiadis in the 200-yard butterfly, and he recorded a 1:50.75.

The lone female swimmer was Katherine Randall, and she completed the 400-yard IM in 4:46.41.

The NCAA championships start on Wednesday, March 11 in Indianapolis, Ind.
