You CAN have your cake and eat it too.

Hannah Mattar celebrated her birthday on Day 3 of the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving championships on Friday (March 13) by taking to the pool in the 200-yard butterfly, finishing in ninth place.

The Eagle junior began the morning swimming a 2:05.74 in prelims, which qualified her for the consolation finals in the event. Once she made it to the finals, Mattar clocked in at 2:02.21, earning her a ninth-place finish.

The champion was Hannah Peiffer of Queens University (N.C.). She completed the race in 1:59.06.

Mattar already has added a pair of All-American citations this week when she placed fifth in the 400-yard individual medley and sixth in the 200-yard IM.

Saturday (March 14) marks the last day of the Championships, and Mattar will swim in the preliminaries of the 200-yard breaststroke beginning at 10:30 a.m.
