Ashland University swimmers and the general Eagle population have noticed a significant addition to the walls of Messerly Natatorium in the Recreation Center in the first week back on campus.
A new record board for the AU swimming and diving program recently made its debut, vividly shining new light on the top individual accomplishments in program history.
The board was a gift from Bill Muller, AU Class of 1991. Muller was a two-time All-American and a 1990-91 NCAA Post-Graduate Scholarship winner for the Eagles. He also was the 1991 AU Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
"Thanks to Bill Muller, our natatorium now features a record board. Every day in practice, our swimmers can see the standards that have been established within this program," said Al King, Ashland University Director of Athletics. "Bill's gift gives us another opportunity to enhance this first-rate facility. The swimmers were excited when they came back to school and saw the board.
"Bill was part of the success of this program years ago, and we owe him a big thank you because of his willingness to give back and help our swimming program keep moving forward."
Said AU head swimming and diving coach Derick Roe, "I think it's going to be extremely motivational for current team members and potential prospects to see the rich history and great heights that the Ashland swimming and diving team has achieved over its history.
"We would like to thank Bill for his generous donation to the program. We hope that this will help us lead Ashland University to new heights."
