Eagle Swimming Splits With Dragons

Eagle Swimming Splits With Dragons

The winter sports season is officially upon us, as the Ashland University swim team took to the waters at Tiffin University on Friday (Oct. 9).

The Eagles earned a split with the Dragons, the women coming away 70-43 winners, and the men falling, 55-42.

Last year's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, Ryan Deemer, looked strong in the water again to start this season. He won the 1,000-yard freestyle (10:04.73) and the 500 free (4:56.31).

Sophomore Grace Reichard earned gold in the 100 free (53.73) and the 200 free (1:57.60).

Eagle sophomore Zoe Scarpone led the pack in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.62) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:15.49).

More Eagle event winners include senior Kaylyn Murphy (50 free), junior Megan Schultz (100 back) and sophomore Michaela Teague (500 free).

The Eagles' next meet will be Friday (Oct. 16) at the University of Findlay. The meet will start at 6 p.m.
