Eagles Wrap Up Final Day At Eastern Michigan Invite

The Ashland University swimming teams were back in the water on Saturday (Dec. 5) for the second and final day of the Eastern Michigan Invitational in Ypsilanti, Mich.

The Eagle men placed fourth in a six-team field with 558 points. The women ended in third place with 646 points. Eastern Michigan won on both the men's (1,252) and women's (1,230) sides of the scoreboard.

Senior Hannah Mattar set a blistering pace of 4:26.32 in the 400-yard individual medley, capturing gold. She also won the 200 breaststroke on Friday (Dec. 4) with a time of 2:16.70.

Fellow Eagle senior Kaylyn Murphy took bronze in the 200 free, clocking in at 1:53.32. She also finished fourth in the 50 free (23.92).

Sophomore Christopher Georgiadis finished second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:06.71. Sophomore Ryan Deemer took home third place in the 200 free, touching in 1:42.88. Deemer also placed third in the 200 free (1:42.88).

Eagle junior Megan Schultz recorded a fourth-place finish in the 200 IM. She timed in at 2:11.11. Senior Sergio Sanchis Peris notched a second-place finish in the 50 free, finding the wall in 21.27 seconds.

The Eagles will return to action on Jan. 9 at home against Malone and Urbana at Messerly Natatorium.
