The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Swimming and Diving Championships enters the final stretches, as Day 3 of the four-day event in Waterford Township, Mich. concluded on Friday (Feb. 12).
Many familiar faces were back on the podium, as several Eagles continued their quick paces.
Senior Kaylyn Murphy finished eighth in the women's 100 backstroke. She rattled off a time of 58.06 seconds, reaching the podium for the third straight day.
Sophomore Ryan Deemer placed ninth in the men's 500-yard freestyle, touching in 4:36.79 seconds. Deemer's mark qualified as a new NCAA Championships "B" cut time, picking up almost four seconds from his previous season-best of 4:40.59 at the Eastern Michigan Invite.
Senior Sergio Sanchis Peris had an impressive fifth-place finish in the 100 back. He timed in at 50.62 seconds. Sophomore Grace Reichard also reached the podium for the Eagles in the women's 100 back, clocking in at 1:05.83 seconds.
Sophomore Christopher Georgiadis took seventh in the men's 200 butterfly. Georgiadis clocked in at a time of 1:52.51 seconds.
The Ashland women are ranked seventh through 31 events of the GLIAC Championships with 204 team points. Wayne State holds the top spot with 648.5 points. The Eagle men are also seventh with a team score of 198.5 points. Grand Valley State sits on top with 601 points.
The Eagles will be back in action for the final day of the GLIAC Championships on Saturday (Feb. 13) at Waterford Mott High School. Prelims will begin at 10 a.m.
