Mattar Places 12th In 200 IM On Nationals Day 1

Senior Hannah Mattar officially kicked off the winter sports NCAA championships for Ashland University on Wednesday (March 9) in Indianapolis, Ind., swimming in the 200 individual medley.

In a historic winter season, all five AU winter sports programs made the NCAA Championships in the same season for the first time in school history. Mattar, representing the Eagles' swimming and diving program, swam a blistering 2:04.41 in prelims of the 200 IM, winning her heat and advancing to the consolation finals.

Once in the consolation finals, Mattar picked up an additional tenth of a second (2:04.31) and placed 12th overall. Mattar collected five team points toward AU's overall score.  

Mattar will next swim on Thursday (March 10) in the 400 IM, then Saturday (March 12) in the 200 breaststroke.
