Ashland University senior Hannah Mattar has graduated, and she competed in her final swim event almost three months ago.
Her postseason honors, however, haven't stopped. And on Wednesday (June 8), Mattar earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America® Division II Women's At-Large first team for the second year in a row.
In April, Mattar became just the third Ashland student-athlete to earn two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Commissioner's Awards since the award was instituted beginning in the fall of 2007. Also in 2015-16, she earned CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large honors, and, as the Ashland swimming program's lone representative at NCAA Division II nationals two years in a row, Mattar single-handedly earned 88.5 Learfield Directors' Cup points for the Eagle athletic department.
In four seasons in the pool for the Eagles, Mattar earned seven first-team and six second-team All-American awards, and won six GLIAC titles. She was the 2015 GLIAC Women's Swimmer of the Year.
Mattar, who was vice-president of Ashland's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, finished her time at AU with a 3.98 cumulative grade-point average in Hospitality Management.
She is one of 11 women who are repeat members of the Division II at-large team.
The at-large program for the CoSIDA Academic All-America® program includes the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo for both men and women; bowling, crew and field hockey for women and volleyball and wrestling for men.
