Eagle Men Win, Women Lose In Home Dual Vs. Findlay

In their first dual meets of the season on Saturday (Oct. 22), the Ashland University swim teams split the day with Findlay.

The Eagle men defeated the Oilers, 108-105, in 12 heats. The AU women lost, 134-71, in 11 events.

The Ashland men took first place in six events. In relays, junior Joshua Nixon, sophomores Daniel Callis and Keegan Goeke, and freshman Charles Sutton teamed up to win 11 points in the 400-yard medley with a time of 3:35.73. In the last event of the day, Nixon, Sutton, senior John Scalli and sophomore Ben Keilholz won the 400 freestyle relay.

In the solo events, Keilholz, Sutton and Goeke took the top three spots in the 50 free with times of 21.82, 22.02 and 22.30, respectively. Junior Christopher Georgiadis won the 200 individual medley, finishing in 1:59.97. Freshman Aaron Bradfield finished the 100 butterfly in 55.45 to win that event. Callis won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.80.

The Eagle women took first place in three solo events. Junior Grace Reichard was responsible for two of those victories, winning the 200 free with a time of 1:58.06 and the 100 free with a time of 53.95.

Junior Zoe Scarpone earned first place in the 100 fly, finishing in 1:00.62.

UP NEXT: The Ashland swim teams will return to the pool on Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. in a dual at Wayne State.
