Eagles Win Six Relay Events Versus Tiffin

The Ashland University men's and women's swim teams faced Tiffin in a meet full of mixed-gender relay events on Friday (Nov. 18) night at Messerly Natatorium.

The Dragons took part in nine of the ten events, and the Eagles recorded the top time in six of them. 

In the first event, Ashland freshmen men Charles Sutton and Aaron Bradfield teamed up with women's junior Zoe Scarpone to win the 3x100 butterfly relay in 2:49.74.

In event No. 2, AU women's senior Megan Schultz joined men's sophomore Keegan Goeke and senior John Scalli to place first in the 3x100 backstroke relay with a time of 2:55.18.

To keep the streak going, the Eagles won the 3x100 breaststroke relay, as well. Sophomore men Daniel Callis and Matthew Bernsdorf, along with women's sophomore Sophie Brightman, finished the race in 3:15.39.

Ashland won the fourth event too, as junior women Grace Reichard and Michaela Teague joined forces with men's freshman Malcolm Doepke and junior Ryan Deemer to complete the 800-yard freestyle relay in 7:44.24.

The Eagles made it five in a row with another team of underclassmen in the 500-yard freestyle relay. Women's freshman Alex Newcomer and sophomore Julia Grady, as well as men's freshman Aaron Bradfield and Christopher Georgiadis, stopped the timer in 4:40.30. 

Ashland completed the streak at six and earned its final win of the day in the 400-yard medley relay, as Schultz, Callis, Bradfield and Reichard finished the race in 3:52.03. 

UP NEXT: The Eagles and Dragons will get back at it on Saturday (Nov. 19) at 1 p.m. in Ashland for a traditional 13-event dual.
