Three Eagle Men Place Top Eight at GLIACs Day 3

Three Ashland University men's swimmers reached the podium on Day 3 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships on Friday (Feb. 10) in Saginaw, Mich.

Sophomore Daniel Callis placed seventh in the 100-yard breaststroke, reaching the wall in 56.07. Junior Christopher Georgiadis finished the 200 butterfly in 1:52.78, also earning seventh place. 

In the 500 free, junior Ryan Deemer finished in eighth place by touching in 4:42.08. His best 500 free time of the day, 4:38.11, came during the preliminary race. 

For the women, junior Grace Reichard just missed reaching the podium, placing ninth in the 100 breaststroke in 1:52.78.

In the women's 800 free relay, juniors Michaela Teague and Madison Olander joined sophomores Erin Staley and Sophie Brightman to place seventh with a time of 8:05.86.

The men's 800 free team of Deemer, Georgiadis, freshman Malcolm Doepke and freshman Aaron Bradfield finished sixth in 7:04.48.

UP NEXT: The fourth and final day of the GLIAC Championships begins Saturday (Feb. 11) at 10 a.m.
