Deemer had the top finish of the week for the men's team on Day 4, taking fifth place in the 1,650-yard freestyle in 16:06.22. Deemer's time is good for a "B" cut standard for men's Division II nationals. He's the first Ashland men's swimmer to earn a "B" cut this season.
Doepke, also in the 1,650 free, finished seventh with a time of 16:11.27. In the 200 breaststroke, Callis earned his second seventh-place finish of 2017 GLIACs, touching the wall in 2:02.98.
For the Eagle women, junior Grace Reichard just missed taking a spot on the podium in the 200 breaststroke, finishing ninth in 2:20.68.
In the women's 400 free relay, the Ashland team of juniors Reichard and Zoe Scarpone, as well as sophomore Julia Grady and freshman Rebecca Prexta, finished sixth in 3:35.10.
As for the final team standings, the Eagle men came in sixth, 90.5 points ahead of seventh-place Findlay and 53 points behind fifth-place Tiffin. The Ashland women placed eighth, 21.5 points behind the seventh-place Dragons.
