Eagles Host Inaugural Alumni Meet on Saturday

The Ashland University swimming & diving team will take to the pool for the first time this season on Saturday (Oct. 14) for its inaugural Purple-Gold Intrasquad/Alumni Meet. The meet is a part of Homecoming festivities as the team welcomes back its alumni for a competition with the current swimmers.

The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. at the Messerly Natatorium.

Second-year head coach Ron Allen noted that the meet will have an unusual order of events, joking that the alumni "won't want to swim for that long."

This will be the first time in a competition setting for the current Eagles, who in preparation for their first official meet of the season on Oct. 28 against John Carroll.

"Ramping up is the right word, because we're barely into full-blown training yardage right now," Allen said.

"The biggest thing I've seen is a difference in attitude. That's definitely the biggest thing. We had one of our main sets for the first time yesterday and it's the most enthusiasm and cheering each other on that I've seen since I've been here," he said.
