Swimmers Complete Weekend With Sweep of Tiffin

The Ashland University swimming & diving teams each earned wins on Saturday (Nov. 4) at Tiffin, sweeping the Dragons as the women took an 85-25 decision while the men won, 60-45.

The AU women won 10 of their 16 events while the men's team took the top spot in six events.

The women's team won both relay events. The combination of Becca Prexta, Sophie Brightman, Zoe Scarpone and Maura Delaney finished the 400 medley relay with a time of 4:16.32.

In the 400 freestyle relay, Grace Reichard, Becca Prexta, Julia Grady and Erin Staley clocked in at 3:48.68 for a first-place finish.

Staley and Reichard each won two individual events for the Eagles. Staley was first in the 200 freestyle (2:03.38) and the 500 freestyle (5:29.36), while Reichard won both her freestyle sprints – the 50 (24.51 seconds) and the 100 (54.11 seconds).

Other winners for the women included Maddie Olander (1,000 freestyle – 11:35.47), Scarpone (200 individual medley – 2:17.52), Prexta (100 backstroke – 1:04.48) and Brightman (100 breaststroke – 1:14.63).

The men picked up a win in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:35.83. That team consisted of Dylan Nasser, Daniel Callis, Daniel Clifford and Grant Stahl.

The Eagles also won five individual events. Ryan Deemer was the winner in the 1000 freestyle (10:11.18). Ben Keilholz won in the 50 freestyle (22.31).

Stahl was the fastest in the 200 individual medley (2:04.60), while Malcolm Doepke finished first in the 500 freestyle (4:50.81). Callis took the top spot in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.50).

The Eagles will hit the road for their next meet when they travel to Findlay for a 6 p.m. start on Friday (Nov. 10).
