Oilers Defeat Visiting Eagles on Friday Night

The Ashland University swimming and diving teams traveled to Findlay on Friday (Nov. 10) night to take on the Oilers in the pool. UF defeated the AU men, 148-79, while the Oilers also defeated the women, 149-87.

Ashland won six individual events on the night, getting two wins each from freshman Dylan Nasser, senior Grace Reichard and junior Erin Staley.

The Eagles had the top two finishers in the 200 individual medley as Nasser took the top spot with a swim of 1:57.25. Senior Christopher Georgiadis was second in the race with a time of 2:01.35.

Nasser was also the top finisher in the 100 backstroke with a time of 52.39 seconds.

On the women's side, Staley won both distance freestyle events, clocking in at 11:20.27 in the 1000 freestyle to take home the victory. Senior Michaela Teague finished second in that race with a time of 11:25.88. Staley was also the top finisher in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:23.49.

Reichard turned in a pair of wins as well. She placed first in the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:57.41 and was also the fastest in the 100 breaststroke, touching the pad in 1:07.73.

The Eagles have the rest of the weekend off before returning to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 18) at the Malone Invitational.
