Ashland Men Second, Reichard Wins Four Times At Malone

Ashland University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed on Saturday (Nov. 18) at the Malone Invitational, with the Eagle men finishing in second place among six teams and the AU women taking fifth in a seven-team field.

The Ashland men collected 905.5 points, behind only Kenyon College (1,152). The Eagle women ended with 637 points, with Kenyon winning that side as well (1,193 points).

Senior Grace Reichard came away from the day as the big Eagle winner, earning four victories in individual events – the women's 50-yard breaststroke (30.28 seconds), 50 freestyle (24.19), 100 breaststroke (1:07.15) and 100 individual medley (1:00.17).

Fellow senior Zoe Scarpone was second in the 200 IM (2:16.44), while the women's 200 medley relay team of sophomore Rebecca Prexta, Reichard, Scarpone and junior Julia Grady was third in 1:50.74.

On the men's side, senior Keegan Goeke won the 50 backstroke (24.89 seconds), and was second in the 50 butterfly (23.79 seconds), while freshman Dylan Nasser was first in the 100 back (52.83 seconds), second in the 50 back (25.01 seconds) and third in the 100 IM (54.25 seconds).

Senior Christopher Georgiadis was second in the 200 fly (1:57.35), while junior Daniel Callis took third in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.10). Two AU men's relays took third – the 200 medley relay of Nasser, Callis, sophomore Grant Stahl and senior Joshua Nixon (1:37.19), and the 200 free relay quartet of junior Ben Keilholz, senior Nicholas Noe, Goeke and Nixon (1:28.55).

Ashland's men and women return to the pool on Nov. 30-Dec. 2 at the three-day Kenyon Invitational.
