Eagles Open Competition at Kenyon Invitational

The Ashland University men's and women's swimming & diving teams got started at the Total Performance Sports Camps Invitational on Thursday (Nov. 30) night in Gambier, Ohio. The event is hosted by Kenyon and will run on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 1-2).

The AU men sit in third place out of four teams that competed on Thursday night while the women are fourth out of five teams.

The Eagles' top finish came on the men's side as sophomore Malcolm Doepke swam the 1,650 freestyle in 16:18.01, good for sixth place.

The combination of junior Ben Keilholz, junior Matthew Bernsdorf, sophomore Aaron Bradfield and senior Nick Noe clocked in at 1:40.80 in the 200 medley relay to finish 14th.

In the 800 freestyle relay, Bradfield, Bernsdorf, senior Josh Nixon and sophomore Peter Reventlow were 15th with a time of 7:31.40.

The women's top finish came in the 800 freestyle relay with senior Grace Reichard, junior Julia Grady, junior Erin Staley and senior Michaela Teague touching the pad in 8:15.93. They placed 13th in the event.

In the 200 medley relay, senior Courtney Patterson, Reichard, senior Zoe Scarpone and Grady finished with a time of 1:52.35 to finish 17th

Senior Maddie Olander led the Eagles in the 1,650 freestyle race with a time of 18:52.30, finishing in 17th place.

The Eagles will resume competition at the TPSC Invitational on Friday with prelims starting at 9:30 a.m. in Gambier, Ohio.
