Reichard, Nasser Sweep GLIAC Swimming Awards

Ashland University swept the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference weekly awards announced on Monday (Dec. 11) with senior Grace Reichard taking the Female Athlete of the Week award and freshman Dylan Nasser winning the Male Athlete of the Week award.

Reichard won a pair of events in a dual meet against Cleveland State on Saturday (Dec. 9), taking the top spot in the 200 freestyle (1:56.53) and the 100 freestyle (53.56 seconds).

Meanwhile, Nasser was the winner in the 200 backstroke, clocking in at 1:55.70. He came in second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 53.51 seconds.

Reichard is the first women's swimmer to win a GLIAC weekly award since Kaylyn Murphy won back-to-back awards on Jan. 13 and 21, 2016.

Nasser is the first AU men's swimmer to win since teammate Ryan Deemer won on Oct. 13, 2015. That was the last time the Eagles swept the weekly awards as Reichard was the female winner on that date as well.

The Eagles are now off for final exams and Christmas break. They will return to the pool on Jan. 5 for a dual meet at Catawba.
