The Ashland University women's and men's swimming and diving teams closed out the home portion of their schedule by picking up wins over Malone and Urbana on Friday (Jan. 26) night at Messerly Natatorium.

The Eagles, who celebrated their Senior Night on Friday, picked up 17 individual wins overall, including nine on the men's side and eight for the women.

For the women, senior Grace Reichard picked up a pair of wins, taking the top spot in the 50 freestyle with a time of 24.19 seconds. That was just 0.14 seconds off the NCAA Division II "B" standard. She was also fastest in the 200 breaststroke, clocking in at 2:25.84.

In the 1-mile swim, senior Maddie Olander paced the group with a time of 18:36.33. Senior Zoe Scarpone was the champion in the 200 butterfly by clocking in at 2:22.78. Junior Erin Staley won the other distance race, taking the top spot in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:26.02.

Sophomore Maddy Cronin won the 3-meter diving event with a score of 202.60 points.

The AU women also won both of their relay events. The group of freshman Jessica Zaper, junior Sophie Brightman, Scarpone and junior Julia Grady finished the 200 medley relay in 1:52.66. In the 200 freestyle relay, Grady, Reichard, freshman Maura Delaney and Scarpone finished in 1:40.11.

On the men's side, senior Ryan Deemer, junior Ben Keilholz and freshman Dylan Nasser each won two races to lead the Eagles.

Deemer was the fastest swimmer in both distance events. He swam the 1-mile race in 16:30.71 and won the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:47.84.

Keilholz won both of his sprint races. He clocked in at 21.45 seconds in the 50 freestyle and finished the 100 freestyle in 49.23 seconds.

Nasser won the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:56.29, and also came in first in the 200 backstroke, touching the pad in 1:56.39.

Senior Nick Noe won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:48.33 while senior Christopher Georgiadis was the quickest in the 200 butterfly, clocking in at 1:58.15.

The combination of junior Keegan Goeke, junior Daniel Callis, sophomore Grant Stahl and Keilholz won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:36.90.

The Eagles will now enter preparations for the 2018 GLIAC Championships, which will be held in Jenison, Mich. from Feb. 14-17.
