DAY 2 RESULTS (.pdf)

The Ashland University swimming and diving teams each sit in fifth place at the midway point of the GLIAC Championships at the Jenison High School Aquatics Center after all events on Thursday (Feb. 15) night.

The Eagles had two swimmers reach the podium in individual event – one on the men's side and one on the women's – with both hitting the NCAA "B" standard.

For the men it was freshman Dylan Nasser, who placed fifth in the 400 individual medley with a time of 4:01.23. That swim earned the Eagles 14 points and gave Nasser his second "B" cut of the meet.

On the women's side, senior Grace Reichard finished sixth in the 200 freestyle with a "B" cut time of 1:53.37. It was also her second "B" standard of the championships.

The women's 200 freestyle relay team missed that cut by just over one second and finished fourth with a time of 1:35.89. That team consisted of Reichard, junior Julia Grady, freshman Jessica Zaper and senior Zoe Scarpone.

In the women's 400 medley relay, senior Courtney Patterson, junior Sophie Brightman, Grady and junior Erin Staley finished fifth with a time of 4:07.56.

The men's 200 freestyle relay team of junior Ben Keilholz, junior Keegan Goeke, senior Josh Nixon and senior Nick Noe placed fifth with a time of 1:24.98.

Nasser, junior Daniel Callis, Nixon and Keilholz swam in the 400 medley relay that finished sixth in 3:26.34.

Scarpone also scored for the AU women, coming in 12th place in the 100 butterfly.

For the men, other scorers included senior Christopher Georgiadis (400 IM, 12th), junior Matthew Bernsdorf (400 IM, 15th), Goeke (100 butterfly, 16th), sophomore Malcolm Doepke (200 freestyle, 15th) and senior Ryan Deemer (200 freestyle, 16th).
