Ashland University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams opened the home portion of their 2018-19 schedule on Saturday (Nov. 3) afternoon vs. Findlay – the Eagle men losing, 137-96, and the AU women falling in a 135-96 decision.

Competing at home for the first time, freshman Franci Aleksi not only won the men's 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:48.37, but that time puts him in the No. 11 spot all-time in the event in Eagle history.

Earning victories for the Ashland women on Saturday were freshman Abigail Ellsworth in the 200 free (2:00.01), sophomore Jessica Zaper in the 100 free (55.78), freshman Michaela Godfrey in the 100 backstroke (1:01.19), and sophomore Tara Stevens in the 500 free (5:18.59).

Godfrey's time puts her in the top 20 all-time at Ashland in the women's 100 back.

Two wins each on the men's side on Saturday were earned by freshman Panos Nikakis in the 200 free (1:48.16) and 100 free (48.65), and freshman Matt Filsinger in the 200 individual medley (2:00.01) and 500 free (4:47.79),

The Eagle swimming and diving teams' next action will be Nov. 10 at 1 p.m. at Wayne State.
