Ashland University's men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed against Wayne State on Saturday (Nov. 10) – the men losing 137-96, and Ashland's women losing a 135-96 decision.
Freshman Franci Aleksi continued his success this season, earning a win in the men's 500-yard freestyle (4:48.77).
Also earning victories for the Ashland men on Saturday were freshman Matt Filsinger in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:58:81, junior Daniel Callis in the 200 breaststroke (2:21:92), and the men's 200 free relay comprised of freshman Panos Nikakis, junior Keegan Goeke, Filsinger and junior Ben Keilholz (1:30:50).
The Ashland women who picked up wins were freshman Michaela Godfrey in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:14:00, junior Erin Staley in the 500 free (5:35:49), freshman Maddy Moates in the 200 breaststroke with a 2:35:88 finish, and the 200-yard freestyle relay team of freshman Abigail Ellsworth, junior Julia Grady, junior Sophie Brightman and sophomore Anne Evans with a time of 1:44:31.
Ashland's swimming and diving teams' next action will come at the Malone Invitational on Nov. 17.
