Eagle Men, Women Finish Kenyon Day Two In Fourth Place

Ashland University's swimming and diving teams both wrapped up the second day of competition on Friday (Nov. 30) at Kenyon's Total Performance Sports Camps Invitational in fourth place.

Junior Madeline Cronin earned the Eagles' highest placing on Day 2 with a fourth-place finish in three-meter diving. Cronin scored a 352.10 in the finals to secure the top-five finish.

The Eagles' Friday effort was also highlighted by relays. The best finish came in the men's 800-yard freestyle relay. Freshmen Panos Nikakis, Matt Filsinger and Franci Aleksi, and senior Lucas Oliveira, finished in 7:04:90 and took ninth place.

Filsinger had the best individual finish for the men with a 15th-place in the 400-yard individual medley (4:10:45).

On the women's side, Ashland's best swimming showing on the day came from the 800-yard freestyle relay. The team consisting of sophomore Tara Stevens, freshman Abigail Ellsworth, senior Erin Staley, and freshman Morgan Gardner finished 11th with a time of 8:16:00. Just behind them in 12th place in the same event was the team made up of senior Julia Grady, freshman Cat Darnell, senior Sophie Brightman, and freshman Michaela Godfrey (8:16:27).

Stevens had the top individual swimming finish for Ashland's women on Day 2. She finished 14th in the 400-yard IM with a time of 4:50:99.

Ashland will wrap up competition at the Total Performance Sports Camps Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 1).
