Both Ashland University track and field teams are ranked in the nation's Top 10. The fifth poll of the outdoor season was released this week.
The AU men are ranked fourth in the country and the Ashland women are fifth.
The GLIAC also released its weekly track and field athletes of the week today. Senior Donald Duke is the men's field athlete of the week and junior Drew Windle is the track athlete of the week.
Duke finished first in the shot put at last week's All-Ohio Invitational in Cincinnati. His winning throw - 61-7.75 - is the longest throw in the country for NCAA Division II entrants. It's an automatic qualifier for nationals.
Windle won the 800 meters at the George Mason Invitational. His time - 1:46.91 - is the second fastest in the nation this spring (all divisions). It is the best time on the NCAA Division II level since 1997 when Ossie Mdziniso of Augustana clocked in at 1:46.54.
