Both Ashland University track and field teams are ranked among the nation's top six teams this week.
The AU men are fourth, the same position they held last week. The AU women are ranked sixth. That's a move forward of two spots. A week ago, the Ashland women were eighth.
The Eagles will compete at home this weekend in the annual AU Alumni Open. Action at that invite begins on Friday (Apr. 25, 11 a.m.) with the throwing events. On Saturday, the field events will start at 10 a.m. The running events begin at noon.
The GLIAC announced yesterday (Apr. 22) that Jessica Bridenthal is the GLIAC women's field athlete of the week and Elijha Owens is the GLIAC men's track athlete of the week.
Both Bridenthal and Owens competed at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Classic last week.
Bridenthal was third in the hammer throw (192-3) and sixth in the shot put (48-11).
Owens was third in the 400 hurdles (52.07), fifth in the 110 hurdles (14.31) and part of the 4X1 relay that was sixth (41.37).
